HTC Flyer will soar over Samsung Galaxy Tab but not iPad nor Xoon
The HTC Flyer as first glance looks great. Look closer though; it's 7" screen may not be enough real estate to keep you in the moment. I was interested to see what HTC would do in the tablet space. I will say I am impressed at first. It will be a strong competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" but not the Xoon or iPad. Why you may ask?
First I do not want an accessory that I am going to lose. That is what will happen with the Scribe pen. The note taking and drawing you can do with it are wonderful. I only ask one question; LiveScribe are you getting a check? The pen and recording software is a blatant rip off of the LiveScribe Pen. HTC boast that you can sync your notes with Evernote but so can iPad.
For the entertainment side of things. Music was glanced over but not shown off. What was shown off was a program called HTC Watch for streaming movies. The prices are 1.85 rent & 9.99 to buy. No Netflix or Amazon buddy
One can not be in tablet fight without some gaming. It's big business just as Angry Birds and Farmville addicts. The Flyer has access to OnLive; the streaming game system. Now not much is know about this yet since only the Arena was shown. No actually gaming.
The Flyer looks great. The UI is classic HTC simplicity at its best. No word on what networks it will be on or price just yet. We will hold out full judgement untill more information is released but 7" is not going to cut it.

Vimeo App: Easier to use than iMovie & Free
[vimeo 21648733 w=400 h=225]
I love my iPad 2 and I love recording movies. In fact that was one of the main reasons for getting an iPad 2. I was thrilled to discover that the iMovie was updated to take full advantage of it. It's a wonderful. Apple seems to always make the best products for their systems. $5 though is a hefty fee for an app now a days since there are already so many alternatives available.
I was all set to drop the $5 for the imovie app regardless of the other free apps out there. I mean come on, It has themes man. Themes I tell you! A friend recommended by Vimeo, the app that works seamlessly with the user friendly site of the same name. I don't know anyone that is not a fan of the site. Vimeo's app works great and what's more it's easy to use. The interface is to the point. You can import music, edit titles and post to the top social sites.
Apple's own iMovie app is $5 in the App Store, and it's by far a much better editor. Plus one can't over look those themes. Nevertheless Vimeo gets the nod due to its price and functionality. You can move clips and audio around by dragging around. There are settings for transitions, effects, titles, and that's it. No themes sadly. You can upload the video to the Vimeo website or can save it to your Camera Roll for uploading somewhere else like youtube.
Pro: To the point and very easy to use app. You can record video, edit it and upload it right away to social sites.
Con: The only con I have is that this is not a universal app. It works just fine on the iPad. I love it but the fact that it is not taking full use of the iPad is a sad oversight.
Cost: $0
Aye/Nay: This is a Aye. This is a to the point app that is free. No extras but then again it was free you know. $0 worth it.
Compatible Systems: iPhone (3GS/4), iPod touch (4th Gen), or the iPad 2.

Rooting a iPhone & Jailbreaking an Android?: I'll clear it up for you
Jailbreaking is the same as Rooting. It's just a different way of saying the same thing for a different OS. On mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. Mostly iOS devices such as iPhone and Android devices such as EVO 4G. Rooting is the term most often used when referring to Android hacking. Rooting means to break the device to gain access to the device and get better control of it’s functions.
[I] Customize the look
iDevices (any if Apple's devices) all have very ugly home screens. The Android is not much better at this either. Jailbreaking and Rooting lets you customize the iPhone’s home screen. There are on the other hand a lot of home screen modification tools for the Android.
[II] You pick the Carrier
The iPhone is locked to AT&T’s or Verizon's network. International markets have unlocked iPhones. We are not so lucky in the US. Unlocking lets you use unsupported networks. Android phones are available unlocked and if not most carriers will give you an unlock code.
[III] Custom ROMs
Rooting allows you to install custom ROMs onto your device. These are versions of Android your phone doesn’t officially support.. Custom ROMs allow future updates to run on devices that do not yet have official support.
[IV] Anything you can do I can do better & faster
Once rooted, you’re able to alter CPU speeds with apps such as SetCPU. You can also change the performance of your iDevice too but only through the computer.
[V] Yes, it is legal in the United States
Originally, jailbreaking was illegal due to its contravention of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. However, following a request from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the US Copyright Office made it legal for iPhone owners to run non-Apple-hosted apps on their handset and use it on an unauthorized carrier. Apple filed comments to this exemption but they were not recognized. This exemption was a universal act that also applied to Android devices. Therefore, in the US, both processes are legal according to the US Copyright Office.
[VI] Yes, there is going back
If your iPhone is jailbroken and you have to take it back to Apple to have it looked at it's pretty easy to do. Just put the device into DFU mode by holding the power and home buttons for ten seconds. Then connect it to iTunes and restore. Now to un-rooting an Android device is not as simple. The process is different from phone to phone and you can brick your phone.

Mundane Monday

I have only greatness to spread today
First of all I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lady Gaga!
Secondly tomorrow is a big day for the once crazy Britney Spears. Tomorrow is the release of her new album Femme Fatale. I'm sure after doing 2 surprise shows in Las Vegas the other night the anticipation is killing some fans.
Updates to know about:
Charlie Sheen is still out there talking about trolls and warlocks and although whatever this talk means he is proving to be very profitable while crazy so... Congrats!
Rick Ross was just arrested on possession of weed. Surprised? not really :-(
There may be a Chris Brown/Rihanna interview happening sometime in the future. I am actually hoping this isn't going to happen. What happened in the past should stay there and plus Chris is having a good enough time making his own headlines these days by throwing chairs through windows! 2 words: Anger Management
Movies to look out for:
Black Swan with Natalie Portman, Tangled voiced by Mandy Moore, Fair Game with Sean Penn, and All Good Things with Ryan Gossling al come out tomorrow on DVD.
Sadly the much anticipated movie Sucker Punch only opened in 2 place with a small $19 million( Diary of a Wimpy Kid part 2 was 1). With a budget that is well over $100 million, 19 isn't going to cut it. Cheers to what will hopefully a better 2nd week.
Final Thoughts:
Please keep the family of DJ Megatron in your thoughts. The famed BET DJ was shot and killed in New York.
Have a good one! Love XXO

Online Dating; It's not that hard, here's some tips
I have gone over cheating online and getting away with it. So I thought I would talk about online dating in a positive way. People sometimes use social networking sites for dating or to try to find love. I think online dating has it's perks. You can basically filter out what you are looking for in the person you want to date. It's not all roses in the garden though. There are some snakes in the grass. I have gotten excited for a first date only to find out that the person online is not the person advertised. They look the same but there is no spell check for face to face conversation. To find a great catch you have to be smart. Here are some ways to find a good relationship online. Love is on you, good luck with that one.
[I] They look too hot, somethings missing
I hate when a picture does not match what I see in person. So if someone just has a head shot on their online profile. You are in your right to ask for a full body picture. Noting sleazy but you have to know what you are getting into.
[II] Be real
Some people will lie about anything and everything. If S/He is capable of lying just for an online date, then that is just crazy. You should only be with people who are real. Than again you get what you put in to things. So be real with yourself and the expectations you put on people.
[IV] I should know a little something about you based on your profile
Your profile is your window to the world. This is how people get to know you. Your online pictures should not let me know anything extra other than that your are not a mutant. Now if their profile is not informative enough remember Google is your friend. I'm not saying you need to do a full background check but don't walk in blind either.
[V] Don't do limbo
Start offline and face to face communication as soon as possible. It's easy to carry on a conversation via text or Gtalk but in person how when you get to know someone. Request their number and set up a date or at least a Starbucks meeting. There is no suitable replacement for face time. That said, you have to trust your intuition. If a guy only calls at midnight aka booty call hours, then you need to let that go. I don't care what they say. You need sunlight.
iPad 2 heads to RadioShack; I say they will be sold out before they hit stores

Are you still trying to get the iPad 2? Is the wait too long for you online? Store all sold out? Well BGR has confirmed an earlier report claiming that RadioShack will begin carrying the Apple iPad 2 tomorrow. That is right you can head on right down the street and pick one up. There are so many Shacks that it should not be a problem to get one. Unless that is lines are way too long. The amount each will get is unknown at this moment but you can be sure it will be limited.

Are you a desperate woman? Don't be, guys hate that.

Finding love is important and you should not let pride get in the way. On the other hand sometimes pride can be not only your friend but also your protection. Pride stops you from looking desperate. Pride helps you not settle for less. So I repeat, No man wants a woman who is desperate. Here is the things not to do if you do not want to look desperate:
[I] Confidence
You know you have a lot to offer, so act like it. We guys like women that are sure of themselves. Be confident and demand more out of the person trying to get with you. Do not just settle for what ever your partner expects from you. Do what is best for you and stand by it
[II] Live your life
Don’t be on call. You're not a doctor and should not be ready for his every whim. We do like some challenges. Not every text needs to be jumped on right away. We want to be part of your life not your everything. Do you sometimes.
[III] Clingy is not sexy
We want to know you’re still interested but not so much that you don't give us room to breathe. Let us start the communication once in a while.
[IV] Brains are sexy
I don't know about other guys but for me I love brains. I can't stand a girl who has no education. That does not mean you must have a PhD or a masters but you should be able to carry a conversation past Dancing with the Stars. You don't have to be a techie but be comfortable enough with whatever you are talking about.
[V] No labels please
What its only been like 3 dates. Why has your Facebook relationship status changed to 'In a Relationship'? Slow down a bit. Yes, I like you but come on can I get some time to make sure we actually work. Requesting or worse demanding a label is the fastest way to make a guy run for the exit .
[VI] Over analyzing is like creating your own purgatory
Try as you may you will never think like a guy unless you are one. So stop trying to understand our actions. If I don't call you back; that means I don't want to call you back. You calling me does not change that. If fact chasing after a guy that does not give you the time of day just makes you look desperate.

2K Sports shows off Serena William's sexy moves in a new ad but she did not authorize it
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ItZoa8a3EsE]
2K sports has released a new Serena Williams ad. The thing is it is a way bit too sexy. So they are claiming that it is unauthorized. Humm, that seems a bit odd with a new tennis game coming out. I will say that is a great way to sell a game. Good job 2K sports. Now only if you would get the NFL back from EA Sports. I miss the competition.

Attitude in a relationship is not cool. This is how to avoid it

It's not hard to catch an attitude in a relationship because we are extra receptive to what our partner says and does. In other words, we care more so therefore it affects us more. Sometimes it is deserved and can help you get under the skin of other issues that maybe going on in the relationship. Most of the time though we are getting upset over non issues that only become big issues because of attitude. Attitude puts people in defensive mode. It's not a good look for a relationship. Here are some ways to that you can avoid the drama:
[I] Don't say you are going to call back if you are not
This happens all the time. You are out and you know you are should call but you out it off till later. That is what you tell yourself. What ends up happening is that you forget. I am sure that has happened to you before. When she gets an attitude, don't even try to make an excuse. I know that you are thinking. Yes, it's not an excuse to you but at the end of the day you gave your word and didn't cash that check. Now at the same time ladies you know we forget and should in my option give us a little slack once in a while.
[II] Twitter Bombs
Repeat after me "Facebook and Twitter are not real. They are a virtual escape and does not represent my partner." Now you should always remember that. There is however a unless. If there is an obviously problematic post you must speak up but do it maturely. Some guy commenting on your girls profile picture will happen. She looks good that is one of the reasons you are with her. No need for drama. Now ladies if your man sends a tweet that was on his mind, there is no need to be hostile. The electronic world is not real but can have real effects on your relationship if you let it.
[III] Make time for time
I'm a workaholic and time is at a minimum. Yes, I know you're my girlfriend but I do want to spend sometime with my friends too. So if I say that I am working late leads to when you're not working you are not here then there are other issues that need to be discussed. Now that does not mean that I will spend my every free moment with the fellas. Now guys what that means is you should have an understanding around your work schedule with your lady. Make a date night or something. You should never too busy for each other
[IV] Case of the ex
If you are a decent person then most likely you will date decent people. Not everyone hates their ex. In fact there is a large number of people who are very close to their execs. That does not mean you to throw that in the face of your current. Now on the flip side of that. The near mention of her or his name should not send you into a rage. You are not the Incredible Hulk. You are smarter than that.
[V] Text be gone
We are not living in the early 90's. That being said, you should have some phone etiquette and respect. You should not be texting anyone really past 11pm. Your friends will understand you are with your partner. While at the dinner table with your partner. Who are you texting? I read a tweet that said. "Don't trust someone who has no text history." There is a lot of wisdom in that statement. Why do you need to clear your text history? This is not one of damn if you do damn if you don't things. It is just a matter of respect. If you text do it respectfully and honestly. Text is a sure-fire way to have attitude fly your way.

Facebook making your name & picture more social. Starts using them in ads. This is how to opt out

What is the Facebook Social Ads campaign? It allows companies to use your name and profile picture in advertisements targeted to your friends. If you 'like' something then pages, events or apps can have your name and picture displayed in online ads for participating companies. If you 'like' Sony, for example, your face would show up in an ad or a promotion on someone else's account for a Sony product. Ads with your name will be visible only to the friends who are allowed to see your status updates and Wall posts.
Facebook says that it "makes advertisements more interesting and more tailored" to its users. Facebook's privacy policy says. "We only share the personally identifiable information visible in the social ad with the friend who can see the ad." So they say but at this point do you really trust them?
PC World says Facebook will eventually allow third-party app developers to use your name and picture in ads placed within Facebook apps. You should be very concerned about companies using your name and photo to promote their products. You can opt-out of Social Ads by following a some steps found on WonderHowTo.com
- Click on the 'Account' tab in the top right-hand corner of your Facebook home page, and select 'Account Settings' from the drop-down menu.
- There, you'll see another tab, titled 'Facebook Ads,' at the far right of the page. Clicking on the tab will open a new page, where you'll have the chance to change your default settings for third-party ads.
- Changing the default from 'Only my friends' to 'No one' will guarantee that you won't appear in future ads from third-party apps or sites
- At the bottom of the page, you'll see the field Social Ads. The site gives you two options: either sharing your social action in ads that will be displayed exclusively to your friends, or sharing it with no one, at all.
- Pick none at all then click Save Changes.

An Open relationship? I'd never do that or have you been doing it an didn't realize it?

Did you know more than 50% off all marriages in the great United States of America end in divorce? Out of that 50% more than 80% of them end do lack of intimacy or monetary issues. The Journal of Sex Research said partners who said they were monogamous had in fact slept with someone outside of the relationship at least once. Some would say if you are going to do all that in the first place, why get married or get in to a monogamous relationship? Maybe we have it wrong. Maybe open relationships are the way things should be. If you read early chapters of the bible it sure was rampant and most behavioral scientists say monogamy is unnatural.
What is an an open relationship anyway? It's when couple agree to be together, titles and everything but also agree to have relations; romantic or otherwise with other people. boundaries of acceptable behavior.
Most of society has condemned people who are in Open Relationships. They see them as practice them as “selfish” or they just don't understand why someone would do it. That was my first thought about Will Smith and his wife Jada. They seem to have a great relationship and family. Yet they have been in a very public open relationship for many years. They claim that it helps their marriage rather than hurt it. This seem to be the claim of many people in open relationships.
They say people in monogamous relationships cheat then act like nothing like that would ever and has never happened. In an Open Relationship you know what your partner is doing. You two set up the rules of what is acceptable and what is not. You set out what works for you. My question to the only Open Relationship couple I know was what happens when the rules yourselves set up are not followed. They replied with "We would setup new rules." I thought to myself, no I would not. I would look for another relationship. That was my first thought. Then I thought about it a little more. They are already in other relationships. What is the big deal constantly changing the rules of the game. Cheaters do it all the time.
I will take it a step further and ask is emotional being tied to someone else cheating? If it is then would that be an open relationship too? I have been with a someone yet had a female friend that was platonic but emotionally we were very connected. My girlfriend knew it and was ok as long as I didn't "do any thing stupid", code for don't you dare sleep with her. She was ok with it because I was with her. She had the title. So does that make me a cheater even if it is just emotional or was that an open relationship?
So are we as a society left with the option of being in a monogamous relationship where someone might cheat on you from time to time or be in an open relationship where they cheat openly with your permission?

Would you date a Geek? Yes, I have and so should you

That guy or gal you see on the television or movies are not real nor are the just around the corner. That hot tennis player and that basketball star are not even in the same circles as you. So chances are they are not going to meet you. So dating them is not an option. The word “sexy” has become tied into what we see in media. For me personally "sexy" is a woman that is smart (book smart and common sense), has nice lips, eyes and C+ chest. (I am a guy after all) That is my simple formula for a "sexy" chick. I am sure you women out there have your own formulas for a hot guy.
The point is make it what you want not what media wants you to want. A geek is often underrated in our society but they are the most loyal caring people in the world. Natalie Portman is fluent in five languages with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard.. Sounds like a geek to me. Dating a geek does not mean that chick in thick glasses and an inhaler. It just means look past the superficial. Here are my reasons why:
[I] U+Me = Us
Geeks love to figure things out and know what is important. They focus all the time. Not just focus on work, games or tech but on you. They realize that you are more important then the other stuff. They also tend not to be brook. Why? See first first line. They figure things out.
[II] Clark Kent's ego
Most geeks are not hoes. They did not learned about sex by sleeping with every pretty face. They read books about how to please their partner. Then they took it a step further and asked question of their partner. They may look like and act like a geek but when it comes to you, their your personal freak in the bed.
[III] It just works
When you date a geek you never have to worry about your tech not working. Your computer running slow? They will fix that. Your Season pass not set up right on Tivo? They will get right on it. If it is something that takes power, you will never have to worry about it not working right if you date a geek. Be warned though, they do often try to push you tech past its limits by Rooting, jailbreaking or just plain hacking it.
[IV] And then? No then..
That is the great thing about dating a geek. There is never a "and then" moment. There is never a "what had happen was" moment. They are to the point and most importantly, honest about events that happen in their lives.
[V] Lableless
When you date a geek it sometimes is easy to forget that they are a geek. That is a good thing because at the end of the day they are just people. Stop using labels and enjoy their company.

Are you in the wrong career?

I've had several jobs and few careers. You never have to maintain a “traditional” path for a career, especially in this economy. Now that does not mean you should hop skip and jump from job to job. But still you should love what you do, be able to use your talents and feel like you belong. The worse thing is to end up at somewhere training is sup par and management is suspect. I've been there, it sucks. So here are some signs that you’re in the wrong career.
I. You hate your job & anything that reminds of you of it
Are you in the retail field, IT field or Broadcast? Every job is related to another job in the same field. You can go from job to job but you will just be in the some job. It's like going from room to room but in the same house. So, if you’re finding yourself hating your job, your manager and the job of the company executives then you’re definitely in the wrong career. Leave now!
II. You frequently dream of doing something else
Do you daydream of doing your job better or do you dream of a new job? If all you do is daydream of a new job then you should make it a reality and get one. Your subconscious is telling you something. You should listen.
III. Wait, that was work?
You find fault in every task that is given to you. You not only find fault but you hate it too. You don't care how it affects your teammates. You don't care if you boss minds one bit about you lack of in enthusiasm. If that’s how you feel then you’re in the wrong career. If your job is not giving you enough pep you might want to find one that does.
IV. You got no game
You look to your left, you look to your right and you look up the chain; sadly you don’t seem to have the skills needed to beat your co-workers or supervisor? Further training would be nice but it is not really provided. Find a career in which your skills are revered. If you are great with computers, you should be in IT. If you are good with numbers then you should be a CPA. Think what you are good at and find a job to match.
V. Your resume does not match your job
If you’re resume has more to do with Event Coordinator even though you work retail. You might be telling yourself and who ever is reading your resume something. What are you telling them? Well wording a resume in such a way that it does not even match in the field you are working in is like telling your future employer that you hated that field and are ready for a change.

AT&T says sorry Sprint but we're going to buy T-Mobile

Verizon is the best phone network in the USA. Everyone knows that. So what do you do when you are branded one of the worse and another company tries to buy it's way to into the top.? Beat them to the punch, AT&T is buying T-Mobile.
AT&T will pay roughly $39 billion to Deutsche Telekom for T-Mobile USA. Deutsche Telekom will get 8% ownership stake in AT&T and an executive will join AT&T’s Board.
AT&T has about 95 million customers now add in the 35 million customers T-Mobile has and AT&T will go well past Verizon in terms of subscriber numbers. Verizon has about 100 million subscribers in the U.S. That leaves Sprint who was slow to the buy with about 50 million subscribers.
The agreement has already been approved by both Boards but will have to pass government scrutiny.
AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson’s quotes from the release:
“It will improve network quality, and it will bring advanced LTE capabilities to more than 294 million people. Mobile broadband networks drive economic opportunity everywhere, and they enable the expanding high-tech ecosystem that includes device makers, cloud and content providers, app developers, customers, and more. This transaction delivers significant customer, shareholder and public benefits that are available at this level only from the combination of these two companies with complementary network technologies, spectrum positions and operations. We are confident in our ability to execute a seamless integration, and with additional spectrum and network capabilities, we can better meet our customers’ current demands, build for the future and help achieve the President’s goals for a high-speed, wirelessly connected America.”

The Wi-Fi-only XOOM hits stores March 27th; Apple fanboys say so what

Motorola announced the March 27th launch of its Wi-Fi-only XOOM. Costco has them on pre-order right now but with a April 1st date. If you can wait they will also give you free shipping, a lower price and a free case. $10 may not seem like much but every bit helps. The Xoon has Google’s Android 3.0 Gingerbread OS, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 32GB of storage and a 10.1-inch HD display. It's a good match up for those that are anti Apple and love to hack their devices

The Redline: DC Review

There are many places to spend you hard earned cash and harder earned free time. Washington DC is a small big place. It's a city that is night life everywhere. You can catch live Jazz at Salon in Georgetown. Get a poetry reading at Bus Boys in Dupont or a concert at The Town Center in Rockville. Ok, that last one was reaching but never the less it is a great spot and only 20mins out on the very clean metro.
The gem and new place in DC is really easy to reach and very well located. It is right in Chinatown across the Verizon Center. The location is what is happening now in DC. This is the hot spot. If you are not here early like 9pm. You can expect to wait online for a long wait. Reservations are a must if you plan on getting a table. Although an oversight is that they are not on OpenTable. The bar has one very big screen (projector) and multiple LCD HD TVs everywhere.
The food is great and the service is even better than some 5 star restaurants. Why am I writing about this place? Besides it is a great place to visit if in DC; it reminds me of Toga in Atlantic City. Same VIP feel throughout and great food only within the casinos. The tech it takes to run the boards is astonishing. A must see.

VeriFone calls out Square (Not surprisingly its also one it's biggest competitors in the mobile payment market)
VeriFone has taken a shot at Square today, stating its free, headphone jack-based credit card readers are nothing more than skimming devices. They want them immediately removal from the world. That is some big talk. What is left out is that VeriFone is one of the biggest players in this market and Square is making a name for its self. VeriFone's CEO now has a YouTube video talking about the exploit its thrown together. It seems like TMZ but no this is done by a respectable company. What they don't tell you:
- For some to skim your credit card they have to steal it or you give it to them. Common sence would tell you don't give you card to a place you would not shop from. If you give your card to someone with a Square device. They are not shady or hiding.
- Square holds funds for 30 days to make sure the funds are not contested.
No this is not social engineering hack not a technical one or one due to anything Square has done. This no different then giving your card to a guy in the market and having them write it down. People can be shady. It's not the device. VeriFone's sample app available for download does just what it is warning against. Can't say that is safe. That is like putting a house on fire to show that matches can be bad. They sent notices to Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and JP Morgan Chase, which handles Square's processing. This is what is really shady. A company that's threatened by Square's business model is taking shots online since the market is not working.

Bad things vs. Good people
Haiti last year was struck by an Earthquake that ravished an already decimated country. A country that was already recovering from the mudslides the year before that. These are good people that are having tragic things happen to them. This week Japan was struck with an earthquake followed by a huge tsunami that left the country that has building codes in place for such disasters in ruins.
Nature and things happen. We can not change them after the fact nor can we alter them before hand. We can however help afterwards. Bad things do happen but good people are always there ready to make good out off it.

Time Warner's TWCable TV iPad app is Streaming TV done right

Time Warner the cable company has just put out TWCable TV, a free iPad app that lets subscribers stream 32 channels of live TV. You must have Time Warner cable and internet for the app to work. Now if only Tivo would do this with your already recorded shows.
TWCable TV does what no one else is doing right now; live streaming TV. Yes, I know; The Dish has been doing this for a while. Well not really it depends on SlingBox. Although the app is nice it left out some features that would have made it a must have. You can not manage your DVR or watch what is saved on it. It's just 32 channels. But you know what?, that is 32 more than you could watch before.

Free Calls & Text to Japan

Sprint to provide its customers with free calling and text messaging to Japanese phone lines. AT&T, Verizon Wireless and MetroPCS announced similar policies for both their subscribers. T-Mobile been silent so far. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon have all committed to waiving fees assessed to users making a donation to the Japanese relief effort via text message.

Sprint Wireless says we have real "Unlimited" service. It's true, now only if you had more phones (iPhone & Windows mobile 7)
I really am not the person that should be writing this post. I am very bias when it comes to Sprint. They have the best prices and service. Ok, the service part is up in the air depending on where you are. I have never found a problem with them. While living in New York, New Jersey, Florida or traveling anywhere. That's right this guy right here has Sprint. I have had them for 6 years and don't plan on jumping ship anytime soon. iPhones and the such are all jailbroken to work with other networks. In fact I would go as far as to say Sprint is my Network of choice. Now if only they would get more phones and go LTE so they are on par with the rest of the world's other carriers.
I am not a fan of tiered data plans and Sprint isn't either. CEO Dan Hesse had a new ad that does a good job of showing why I stick with them. It does not matter what other companies are doing. They continue to do what is best for the customer. He says the word 'unlimited' shouldn't include things like metering or throttling. Sprint's "Simply Everything" plan that actually does include everything never does the above mentioned. Now if they would get rid of that $10 fee for premium data and go LTE ... Oh, well guess I can't get my cake and eat it too.

Zynga giving a 100% of the virtual goods purchase prices will be donated to Tsunami relief

Zynga the little company that has grown into a game company bigger than even EA, has joined the Internet’s efforts at donating to Japanese Tsunami relief. You can now do donations through virtual good buying in all of Zynga's games. I might now have a reason to play FrontierVille, FarmVille or CityVille aside from my younger sibling's constant request for help with her farm. 100% of the virtual goods purchase prices will be donated to Tsunami relief.
Players who want to donate in the non-Ville game Words With Friends can use the Save the Children button inside the game. Players in all games within Facebook can also send funds using the Zbar, or the bar that sits on top of the game. Facebook will also be donating its traditional 30% cut on the Facebook Credits used to contribute to the relief.
Judging by a rare tweet by Zynga CEO Mark Pincus, Zynga ambitiously wants to raise 2 million through the efforts.

What & where to buy on #iPad2Day (yeah, we made a hash mark, love it, use it)

This has been the day that a lot of Apple fanboys and the public as a whole have been waiting for. Today, well a few hours ago you were able to order the iPad 2. At 5pm you will be able to buy it everywhere from Sam's Club to Verizon to Apple's own retail stores. There 24 different models to choose from. Yes, 24 if you do the math. Three size choices 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. Then there is the color white or black. Then there is the network AT&T, Verizon or none if you just go WI-Fi only.
It took a while to pick one but I went with Verizon's 32GB black iPad 2. That was the one that won me over. Why? AT&T does have a fast network but speed does not mean anything if I can not connect to it. Verizon has the best and most reliable network in the states. JD Powers just awarded them for it as well. Ordering it online took just moments. Although the shipping said it would take only 3-5 days. I noticed my delivery date was a fully after the 5 days. Hopefully that is not the case. If it really does take two weeks one might as well just try the stores.
Why 3G at all? I am doing it based on experience. I had the 16GB WI Fi only iPad already. I had a my phone the HTC Touch Pro 2 wirelessly tethered to it. I know its time to upgrade my phone. I am holding out for a iPhone 4 jailbroken on Sprint or iPhone 5 on Sprint for the win. So internet was not a problem. Unless that is, I wanted to use my phone. Plus it drained my battery life. After about 3 hours of internet it would be completely empty. It will be nice to not have to bring a charger with me everywhere.
The size was a toss up. Not really a need. I needed to use my phone. You don't really need more space since apps take full advantage of the cloud. I choose to go with the 32GB iPad 2 because of past experience. I found that I wanted more music than what I was able to put on the original 16GB iPad. I didn't like the daily compromise over what was more important my podcast, movies or music. My podcast always lost the fight. Sorry MSNBC FastMoney, your podcast though informative and entertaining; its too big.
So there you have it. No waiting on a line. Just point and click and wait. That last part sucks though. I'm half tempted to try to get it at the store and return the one I ordered once it comes it. Two weeks better not happen.

Earbits.com Brings Online Radio + payola: Bands Pay For Playtime
Payola, in the American music industry, is the illegal practice of payment or other inducement by record companies for the broadcast of recordings on music. *Unless the station publicly declares that a song is sponsored*
Now with that said. There is a site that is doing just that. Earbits, an online radio startup lets consumer feel like its a Pandora clone. There are 40 radio stations. Just pick on a genre and the music will start playing. All you see is a big picture of the artist & their bio. The design is very well done.
You can thumbs up/down on songs, and you can skip to the next track if you don’t like the one that’s currently playing. Just like every other online radio sites. Earbits will allow bands to pay to have their songs played more frequently. CEO Joey Flores is confident that it’s a model that both bands and users will benefit from.
Right now the site is free for everyone, including bands. The site will automatically pull in calendar dates from MySpace, ticket information and in order to share a song with friends, you'll have to ‘Like’ the artist’s Facebook Page.
Earbits isn’t dealing with the big labels. Seems to me if they did the indent feel would go away real fast since big labels would just have so much cash that an independent would have no chance. Smart move, it's making deals directly with smaller labels and artists. So far the site has signed deals with 1300 artists across 90 small labels and says more are on the way. With it’s easy to use self signup form it is super simple to get put on the site. Bands are asked to send two songs at first. They are reviewed by the Earbits team. If they pass the test then bands can upload as many songs as they wish. This is a great idea and no ads helps sell this. I was a skeptic but after taking some time with the site I must say it is very well done and a great opportunity for new artist. I also found that well established artist such as KRS-ONE had songs on there that were not ever released.

You're getting the iPad 2 (that is a given) But here is the breakdown of 3G vs. just Wi-Fi

So you’ve decided on iPad 2. That was a no brainer as there are not any real compeditors out there. Now the real question is which one will you get. No I am not talking about the color. Because Black is sexy and I don't to keep cleaning stains of a white device.
No, I am talking about which type of iPad 2 to get. 3G or Wi-Fi. I have the Wi Fi only now and I must say it has worked well for me since I use my phone as a hot spot. The thing is though that my phone dies quickly and that handy GPS feature would have been helpful many a times. So this time I going 3G. But which one should I get, AT&T or Verizon? With both carriers, the plans are month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time. Here is a break down.
AT&T is offering two prepaid and two postpaid plans.
Prepaid
•250 MB – $14.99, $14.99/250MB overage charges
•2 GB -$25, $25/2GB overage charges
Postpaid
•250 MB – $14.99, $14.99/250MB overage charges
•2 GB – $25, $10/1GB overage charges
If you are currently on an unlimited $30 plan with the original iPad, you will be grandfathered into this plan automatically.
In the prepaid options, you pay ahead time for the data and if you use it up before the month is over, you have an option to buy more. In the postpaid options, you will be billed for the data you used at the end of the month.
Verizon is offering a broader range of plans. Four of them as well but seem to be more geared toward people who use a lot of data. People like me.
•1 GB – $20, $20/GB overage charges
•3 GB – $35, $10/GB overage charges
•5 GB – $50, $10/GB overage charges
•10 GB – $80, $10/GB overage charges
With both carriers, the plans are month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time.
Is there more to think about?
Yes there is actually; AT&T has the fastest 3G network but Verizon is the most reliable. AT&T is GSM/HSPA and uses SIM cards. So if you’re an international traveler. You should get that one. Also if you jailbreak it, you can put in a T-Mobile sim card in it.
That is it right?
No, just one more thing to keep in mind. Once you make your decision, that's it. There is no going back. The AT&T and Verizon iPad 2 are are different hardware.

Facebook takes on Netflix instead of partnering with them, streams movies it's self

The Warner Bros. movie The Dark Knight is available for rental on Facebook. This is seen by many as the fist shot fired against Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. Users can now use Facebook credits to rent The Dark Knight for $3. No download needed, the movie is streamed directly from the movie’s Facebook fan page. You have up to 48 hours to watch the movie.
Warner Bros. said it also plans to make digital movies available for purchase via Facebook. This is truly a going to be a new social experience for the movie since you can comment right on the movie page. It should be interesting if the movie is in HTML 5 and will it work on mobile devices such as iPad. This would be one way to avoid paying Apple a fee but still have access to their device and loyal user base.

What would happen if Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile all decided to do LTE at the same time?

What would happen if Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile all decided to do LTE at the same time? Well other than make customer happy that is. It would be wonderful. Your phone would work on all networks. You would have high speed data where ever you went.
The is just what is going on in Russia. Yota is building the 4G network for the whole country. Beeline, Megafon, MTS and Rostelekom are all going to share it rather than each operator doing their own thing like here. The four majors over there will be able to a buy 25% stake in Yota. The goal here is to have LTE in 180 cities with a total population of more than 70 million citizens by 2014.

Russia Takes 4G Lead With Strategic Approach to Nationwide Infrastructure Build
- Rival Operators Buy-Into Yota's Vision of the Future of Telecoms
Press Release Source: Yota On Thursday March 3, 2011, 1:09 pm EST
Yota, the Russian mobile broadband company, has today signed a deal with the country's main network operators that will place Russia at the forefront of the development of 4G telecoms services.
The deal will see Yota become the 4G network provider for the Russian telecoms market and guarantee the roll-out of its LTE network to cover 180 cities with a total population of more than 70 million citizens by 2014.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin witnessed the signing of this landmark agreement by the heads of the leading Russian telecoms operators at Yota's Moscow office.
The agreement will see the country's major network operators - Beeline, Megafon, MTS and Rostelekom - working with Yota to offer 4G services over its network. The deal provides each of the participants with an option to buy shares in Yota in 2014 and sees the realization of Yota's vision of the future of telecoms: the ability to offer open infrastructure to competing service providers.
State corporation Russian Technologies supported the agreement in a bid to ensure an efficient and collaborative approach to rolling-out 4G services.

What do those colorful Plastic Bread Ties mean?

Why do guys say these things to women? Or Things guys should not say to women and why

Ok, let’s face it. Guys we're not the smartest people out there. Yes we know how to play the game. Hell, we invented the game. But like all great players we have a hard time transitioning from player to coach to owner. Women seem to be able to handle this a lot better than guys. They seem to know just what to say. They have a built-in senor or something. While guys tend to not have this nifty gift.
1st let me clear some things up for you. I am not talking about the guys out there that are just jerks. Honestly women you knew he was a jerk before you got into that mix bowl and stirred things up. No, what I am talking about is that nice guy that sometimes says things that make you look at him like "WTF" were you thinking. I have found myself on the end of that look a few times.
Then there are the things you say but mean something else. You say you are sorry but then do it again and again. It is not a good look. It comes to the point when you say one thing and she knows it means another all together. That too is not a good look. Here is my list of things a guy should not say to women. I thank those of you that sent in your own list. Sorry, I could not use them all.
I. You’re good but not as good as her
What are you thinking? I don't care she is the one that asked the question. I don't care if she is the one that said to be honest and she can take it. The fact is, she cannot take it and it is not ok to ever ever ever say that. If she ask you if she is good. The answer is "you are like sunshine on a warm day"
II. My last girlfriend or The last girl I dated
I know those are not a full sentence. It does not have to be. You were half out your mind when you said the full one. You had to be. It is the only thing that makes sense. Those words in that order should never be said to your current girl. It does not matter if your current has a title or not.
III. Do you & I'ma do me
So what you are saying is. Let's just be friends with benefits. What she hears is "I'm not good enough to be with full-time."
IV. What's the issue?
You may not see what the big deal is. You may not see what the issue is. You, you, you...See a theme here? It’s not about you. It's about an issue in your relationship that was big enough for her to try to communicate to you about. You should be happy she did that instead of letting it build then blow. So, in the future just ask how can we fix this instead.
V. Who said what?
Calling your lady an elephant is not only mean but also a very quick way to end that relationship. The fact of the matter is that she is an elephant. She does not forget anything. So if you said something she will remember. Now the thing is; I have found that while all women do not forget; they can however remember wrong and out of order. It all depends on the state of mind they are in. Since the only time this conversation comes up is when you are arguing or fighting. Don't deny you said it. You did say it. We have established that. This is not a fight you are going to win. Apologize and keep it moving.
VI. I’ll never
You might as well say I am lying through my teeth right now to you. There is no way you can say I will never anything. Things happen, situations occur and we're all human. No guy ever intents to hurt his girl. Well unless she cheated on him and he is playing out an incredibly complex revenge scheme. (Insert evil laugh here). You build up walls. People you care about get a ladder to climb over that wall. Once inside they can and will do things they should not do, those things hurt you. They do this not because they want to but because that is our nature. We say and do things that are not nice. The key is to minimize this. Saying you will never is not the way to do that because women are elephants.
VII. It is what it is”
Just because it is what it is now does not mean it has to stay that way. Things can change and there is always a potential for change. It is what it is, in its self is not wrong. It is just the meaning behind the sentence that drives women crazy. Humm. Don't say that one either. I meant makes them uncomfortable. What they hear is that you don’t want to change and you are happy the way things are. That may not be what you mean but that is not what you just said. Learn some synonyms and expand you speech.
VIII. It meant nothing
It may have just been a quick kiss (does not matter if you were drunk), one night stand (again does not matter if you were drunk) or worse of all; a continued 2nd relationship. It may have just been fun for you and no emotions were tied to this other woman. But guess what, it means something to your main lady. It meant a whole lot. Show her some respect by recognizing that. You have done enough already.
IX. You use to be...
She used to be what? She used to be good enough for you. Now she is not? She used to do the things you like. Now she does not? She used to be perfect. Now she is not? You don't mean it that way but that is how it comes out. Guess what? You use to be a nice guy before that comment. Never say "you use to be" to a woman. She will automatically replace the words "you use to be" with "I am no longer good enough for him." Which if repeated enough will lead to one of two things; [A] She becomes resentful and spiteful or [B] gets low self esteem and miserable. Either way it’s not a good thing for a relationship.
X. Sorry your hurt
Are you really sorry or are you just going through the motions. Even if you really meant it. It does not sound that way. After all it was you that hurt her in the first place. Just apologize for what you did not the outcome. It's a given she is hurt. That is not the issue. What you did is.
XI. Your friend looks hot
You might as of well just have said her sister is hot because that it is the something to her. You should never check out your girl's friends. I know we're guys we are going to do it but don't do it so openly and use some common sense. Stating things like this in public to her of all people is not a smart move.
XII. The last stupid thing you said
It may have been an innocent remark that you said and she may have had an attitude for only a few moments then played if off like everything was ok; but she will remember. It goes into her file of reasons you are not worth her time. Once that file system fills up. You are out of there. So just think before you speak.
Court says GeoHot's host have to give up names to Sony

The DMCA forbids devices that circumvent copyright or other protections, and the idea behind it is similar to the laws preventing you from modifying, say, your bumper height beyond a certain level, or building a house without the proper permits. But the cases clearly are not analogous, as has been pointed out thousands of times over the last few years. Being able to do what you like with your own property is somewhere between a right and a privilege, but at the very least if it is done in private and no ill effect can be shown to result, you should be free to hack. It’s not legal yet, but neither is crossing the street against the light.
Whether Sony or the Magistrate is more at fault here, I don’t know. It’s clear that this request by Sony is either lazy or malicious: they could have made it more specific, bu didn’t bother. But the Magistrate should have, as the EFF points out, demanded that Sony meet higher standards for discovery limitations. Is anyone else worried that our judges and legislators are unable to comprehend the issues they are forced to judge and legislate? Magistrate Spero for one clearly does not understand the scope or gravity of the request he just granted.
Meanwhile, of course, the master signing key for the PS3 is widely available to anyone who looks. What Sony thinks it will accomplish by suing GeoHot and anyone else who posts the key (including their own Kevin Butler, I expect) is beyond me. Hacks are like the hydra, and while Sony is suing the head it has already cut off, two more, or two thousand, will grow in its place.

CBS now has it's hands on Clicker

CBS has acquired Clicker. The TV Guide of the internet. Clicker’s CEO Jim Lanzone has been named President of CBS Interactive. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PRess release [Shorten]
Clicker is a comprehensive search engine for TV content on the web. The startup made its debut at TechCrunch50 in 2009, and currently indexes more than one million full length TV episodes on the web.
The startup also released a more social version of Clicker that allows people to discover, share, rate, discuss, and check-in to shows on Clicker and third party partner sites, and rolled out Clicker Mobile, which allows users to access Clicker’s service through free Android and iPhone apps. Most recently, Clicker launched a deep Facebook integration to offer personalized TV recommendations.
Besides a technology play, the acquisition was also a talent buy. Before founding Clicker, Jim Lanzone was the CEO of Ask.com, which was acquired by IAC in 2005. Considering Lanzone’s experience in both web and content technologies, he seems like the perfect fit for CBS’s interactive arm.
Clicker will become a property of CBS Interactive, whose other sites include CNET, TV.com, CBS.com, CBSSports.com, CBSNews.com and Gamespot.

Top 10 Albums of all time (Let the debate begin)

I write a lot and for fun produce music & I used to dj at my university. In case you were wondering. Hip Hop a culture but few see it that way. Now it is the commercial fluff you hear on the radio and see on TV. Rap is the real Sh*t between the lines on an album that use great word play. Jay did this a lot. The Blueprint had H to the izo. (Fluff) but also had Renegade (rap). There is also more than rap/hip hop & R&B out there. I love those genres but go explore you might like it. There is a whole world of music out there. OK enough of the chit chat. Here is my Top 10 in no order and sorry people it’s not all Rap and R&B:
I. Shania Twain – Come On Over
This joint has gone over 20 x Platinum (You know you know this song)
II. Slick Rick-A Children’s Story
No one does stories like him. Some try but now no one does now. It’s just hooks no a days.
III. Pink Floyd- The wall
These guys know what they are doing. They are icons. If you have not heard of them go listen. ASAP. 27 Million Albums sold of just ”The Wall” This is like Thriller for white folk. It’s a must listen.
IV. Ray Charles-Genius Loves Company
If you have not heard of this CD you should not be even talking about music. I cannot say enough about how well written and produced this album is.
V. Dixie Chicks – ’Fly’
You speak up and say the president is wrong. Your people turn against you but you do it big anyway. This album was the truth.
VI. Usher-Confessions
It’s rare that you get to witness the transformation of an artist from a star to a super star. This album did that for Usher. Every single track was fire and personal. (Or seemed personal)
VII. Dr. Dre- Chronic 2000
They said he fell off, how his last album was the Chronic. Dr. Dre does it his way, when he wants and he is talented enough to get away with it. This is still a classic.
VIII. Michael Jackson– Bad
At this point you are like where is Thriller. Guess what? I didn’t like Thriller. Yeah I liked a few songs but as an album it didn’t do it for me. Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, THRILLER, Beat It , Billie Jean that’s it. Four songs are not enough for me. Bad was the one that was hard to put down.
IX. The Beatles-The White Album
These guys just make good music. Wait, that is a lie. These guys make great music. Every song is a work of art. You know you are going to get quality when you see that name. It’s like if you see Busta Rhymes is on a remix to something. He seems to only be on tracks that are fire.
X. Jay-Z-The Black Album
He had a chance to do a Jordan but do it right. He was on top. His best well put together CD and he came back again anyway. Still mad at that. But unlike MJ. He got better. Not kingdom come. That was trash. His new one Blueprint 3 is his best work since The Black Album. It still stands as one of the best rap CD’s out there.
BlackBerry Messenger will finally be on Android & iDevices

BGR is reporting that Research In Motion (RIM) is bring BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) to Android and iDevices. When? We have no idea. Sometime this year is a pretty forgiving time frame. According to BGR's sources, RIM has not yet come up pricing but it might be free. I do not think it will be free. They would have to charge for it. Just a reasonable one time fee. It would not be a smart move to charge a monthly fee for it. Less they want to give Apple a 30% cut each month.
RIM will offer stripped down versions of the BBM experience found on BlackBerry devices. That means they would not be able to share photos, location, or videos. So it will be just text. Which all I want anyway. If you want to full deal of everything BBM has to offer you would have to get a BlackBerry device.
