Dating Myths

There are a lot dating myths out there. Some are fact some are not so much. Here is the low down.

Myth: If he calls right away, he’s a clingy loser.

That is not true. In fact he just likes you and is eager to spend more time with you. He is also able to express that with words instead of playing games. In other words

Myth: If you meet the family than you should shop for rings.

That is a no. You need to slow down. It's a meeting and nothing more.

Myth: If he doesn’t try to have sex with you right away that means he thinks you have long-term potential.

No so fast, maybe he is already sleeping with someone else or has classified you as platonic. Then again he may really respect you and want to wait. Point is there is no way of knowing.

Myth: If his friends like you, you’re in like Flynn

My friends may be thinking about that little thing you do with your tongue. Truth is guys talk more than chicks when it comes to talking about women. If my friends like you that does get your foot in the door but does not give you a place to stay.

Myth: You met him in church, so he has to good man.

Snap out of it. This pure fiction at least myths are based on some fact. We good men are everywhere. Church is a place that some find to be a deal breaker. If this is you than church is the only place you will find a man because that is the only you want one.

Canna Cola: A soft drink laced with marijuana.

If you thought Four was a bit much a few months ago. Now comes Canna Cola, a line of soft drinks laced with medical marijuana.

Commercial artist and Canna Cola entrepreneur Clay Butler has created a cola drink that contains the psychoactive marijuana ingredient THC; $10 to $15 will get drinkers a 12-ounce bottle. In addition, he's producing Doc Weed, a spin on Dr Pepper; Sour Diesel, a lemon-lime flavor; and Orange Kush, his version of the citrus drink.

Do you think this will take off? Can Canna Cola get as much press as Four did?  More info at drinkcannacola.com

Who is the last person you said "I love you" to?

You never when it is the last time you will see someone for the last time or the last time you will ever speak to them. You should say I love you to your loved ones all the time, each chance you get.

Android Event Will Battle iPad Event For Press Love On February 2

Google is hosting an event next week to show off the latest version of Android, codenamed “Honeycomb” a bit more.

This event follows Google’s recent release of a preview version of the SDK for Honeycomb. And back in January, they released a preview video of the new OS.

No word on who will be on hand to show off Android 3.0 at this event yet, but Andy Rubin is a safe bet. More interesting will be if soon-to-be CEO Larry Page shows up as well.

Will NFL have a lockout?

According to The New York Times, commissioner Roger Goodell sent an e-mail on Wednesday to his staff saying he'd take a $1 salary (a pay cut of about $10 million) if a lockout occurred. Naturally, it was leaked to the NFL Network, and spread quickly across Twitter. To counter, DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the players union, tweeted that he would work for just 68 cents if an agreement was reached by next Sunday's Super Bowl.

The commissioner and the executive director aren't of need of that much money, and there's just no way a new collective bargaining agreement could be reached before kickoff in Dallas.

Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?

I think at some point you always compare yourself to someone. With power of media in the USA so strong. It is nearly impossible not to compare to someone. Fictional or not. Comparison should not be mistaken for envy or admiration. This not someone you look up to or are jealous of. I looked up to my uncle Garry but I compared myself to one of my best friends. Now as an adult, most people compare colleagues.

No Leaf? Get a Volt

Is the Leaf not falling to fast enough? There is hope in the form of the Volt. Chevrolet has confirmed that the car will be going nationwide by the end of the year, expanding from its current availability in just a few states. By the third quarter it will be in the Pacific Northwest, Southeast, and then later all of the US even Alaska.

Kindle overtakes books

Last July we reported that Amazon’s Kindle eReader books had surpassed hardcover books sales, selling 143 Kindle books for every 100 hardcover books. Now the same is true of paperbacks as well with 115 Kindle books being sold for every hundred paperbacks.

The hardcover stats for books have doubled, with three times as many Kindle books as sold as paperbacks in 2010. Free Kindle books are not part of this number.

The Kindle store now has over 810K books most of them are $9.99 or less.  Amazon had its first ever $10 billion quarter. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos predicted this digital to print milestone would happen in the second quarter of this year, so it has come ahead of expectations..

Google to index the Holocaust

In honor of UN International Holocaust Remembrance Day tomorrow, Google is partnering with Jerusalem-based Holocaust museum Yad Vashem in bringing 130,000 photos and documents to the Internet, where they will be organized and stored in Google's cloud.

Google has been working for three years with the museum to index all the documents using optical character recognition technology (OCR), which will make everything from visas to survivor testimonials searchable. That way, anyone looking for information on a relative will now be able to see photos and other documents from the archives in their Google search.

"This is part of our vision--to connect Yad Vashem's knowledge and information to modern technology, and bring it to youngsters," Yad Vashem Avner Shalev told NPR.

While there are 130,000 photos and documents now at your fingertips, this is still only the beginning of the project, as Google and Yad Vashem plan to work together throughout the coming years to continue adding to the archive.

As Google wrote on its official blog, the Yad Vashem project is a part of the company's growing effort to create digital archives of cultural and historical collections. Google has already done so for the Prado Museum in Madrid, LIFE and some major European libraries. It would be nice if the same thing were done for the slavery  holocaust.

A-mazing!

So I just wanted to share this video with everyone because I found it to be a jaw dropping scene. Check out this video of Lady Gaga before fame and meat made clothing found her. I just want to say that this simple dress and gorgeous hair is refreshing. I wouldn't have known that this much talent was under all of the craziness that is Lady Gaga today.

Another thing I wanted to share: T.V tonight!
All new episode of Vampire Diaries which is my pick for must see television tonight. But also check out the drama of an all new Jersey Shore and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hill Reunion part 1.

LinkedIn Goes IPO, soon anyway

Professional social network LinkedIn has just submitted its S-1 filing with the SEC, indicating that it will file for a public offering. The maximum proposed total offering price is $175 million but this is just a placeholder amount. The company also announced the filing on its blog.

In terms of revenue, in the nine months ended September 30, 2010, LinkedIn’s net revenue increased $80.6 million to $161 million from the same period in 2009. Net income for the first nine months of 2010 came in at $10 million.

LinkedIn’s total net revenue in 2009 was $120 million, which LinkedIn obviously surpassed in 2010. The company took a $3.9 million loss in terms of net income, with 2010 as the first profitable year for the network. As of September 30, 2010, LinkedIn had $89.6 million in cash. The company now has 990 employees and over 90 million members.

What do you want to be known for?

There are things that we are known for then there are things you want to be known for. The 2nd one is a lot harder to get to. I want to be known for being a person that was able to help those that needed it and someone my friends and family could count on.

The Cost of Friends With Benefits

With two films about sex without romance being released within just months of each other. I thought as part of my "Off Topic" I'd hit on the pros and cons of such an arrangement. The two movies that are set my mind in motion are "No Strings Attached," starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, that just came out last week. Later this summer Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis will star in "Friends With Benefits."

For some it works and works very well. Why so well? Uncommitted sex is just that, a commit to nothing more than sex. In most cases these situations are transparent. Nobody's trying to be anything they're not or make promises they don't intend to keep; it's all just about having fun. You should have some strict boundary: no sleepovers, insists on no cuddling and no morning-after breakfasts. You don’t want to make things messy.

That is the problem with “Friends with Benefits” sometimes, ok not sometimes; it always gets messy. "I've been in a few of these situations and, basically, they work until they don't." When you're in crisis or in vulnerable state there is something oddly comforting about the idea of someone is emotionally no danger of getting attached to.

There are however risk. Here are the signs that you are getting emotionally attached to your friend. If you see these signs and know it will not work out. Its time to get out and transition to "friends who do not sleep together" .

  • If at anytime you find yourself thinking “I actually liked him or her.”

  • You get invited out for an evening that seems a lot like a date.

  • You think why aren't we dating?

  •

As with any human relationship, there are often ulterior motives. So lets say you didn't listen  to me and you ignored my suggestion to pull out at the first sign of attachment. You may end up being the one they are forced to stop hooking up with because it has become really dramatic or awkward. Or even worse you send out mix signals out. They may think that they are doing something casual and but it doesn't seem casual in you mind. You are not being open about how serious you feel, in which case you will be caught off-guard.

The reverse is also true. You have to be very skeptical when somebody tells you that it's OK with them, because a lot of times it's not OK with them. They may be in such desperation to have a relationship with you that the option for FWB was the only thing they could think of as a way to keep interested with them.

The last thing you want is a casual pretense. The sad this is that is a common experience. A friend of my mine said "It was fun at first, but of course my emotions got jerked around which was totally my fault," she said. "Why I thought something serious would evolve still makes no sense at all"

We all know the high stakes that goes with friends with benefits. After all this person is your friend. Not just a booty call. So, why do we do it? Well as a guy I can tell you the idea of sex without consequences is one of the most alluring things on the planet. The mixture of freedom and dependability that comes with a Friend with benefits is unlike any other relationship that I can think of or experienced. You get to not commit but still kinda be committed. Non-committal commitment, if you will.

  • Sex Will Change Your Friendship

Adding sex to any relationship especially just a casual one changes it. So if you’re having intercourse with a friend it will with out a doubt change the way that relationship will proceed. It’s possible that the two of you will remain friends, but you’ll never be as close as you were before you crossed the physical line. Besides that, it may take several years before you are truly able to think of your friend in the platonic way you did before you slept with him or her.

One mistake people make in a “FWB” situation is thinking that casual sex with a friend is no big deal. There are usually underlying feelings of attraction involved already when two friends decide to have sex. If one person likes the other more, it can cause embarrassment and hurt feelings.
The other problem is when you have sexual intercourse your body naturally releases hormones which are shown to increase feelings of love and attraction. In other words, if you’re trying to deny your feelings, you’re kidding yourself. Often a “friends with benefits” situation begins because singles simply get tired of waiting for the right person to come along. This is especially true if you have been single for a while, or if the rest of your social group is married. It can be difficult to have patience and trust that there is someone special out there for you. But trust me there is.

  • Having a Friends with benefits comes at the cost of that friendship

This is especially true if you’ve tried to stay pals with him or her. When you meet someone new, how will you feel about your friend then? Will you really want to continue to hang out with him or her once you’ve finally fallen for someone else for real? People that were close for years as friends find it slightly awkward to be around each other when they try to have relationships with other people. More than that, when you know you have someone you can always fall back into bed with, it makes it more difficult to truly let go when you meet someone new. You end up sabotaging a new relationship before it even begins.

New Volkswagen gets 313MPG out of its new car

If you thought that 99MPG was crazy talk; listen up. Volkswagen has come up with what has to be the most efficient car I have ever heard of. The  XL1 is rated at 313MPG fuel efficiency and produces only 24g of CO2 per kilometer traveled. No that was not a typo. I said 313 MPG.

There's an electric motor and a TDI diesel engine making all the buzzing and roaring noises inside, while the overall body design is focused on making the car as light and as aerodynamic as possible. Volkswagen has achieved a 795kg curb weight by using carbon fiber, magnesium, ceramics, and aluminum to shave down any excess portliness from the XL1, while wind-tunnel testing and optimizations have resulted in a rather exemplary 0.186 drag coefficient.

What is the wait to get your hands on this car. Well the good news is there is no wait. The bad news is that its not for sale. The car is still just a concept.

Sony Ericsson will integrate Facebook’s Single Sign On

Sony Ericsson Strategic Business Developer Martin Essl just announced that Sony Ericsson will integrate Facebook’s Single Sign On system across all its Android phones.  Single Sign On is like Facebook Connect for mobile apps, it allows you to log into all apps that use Facebook Connect just by logging into one.

No specifics of the integration were  revealed but we do know that the Facebook app for Android will come preloaded on all phones and there will be part of the  initial walk through process of the phone setup.

“Sony Ericsson’s core values are entertainment, communication and we strongly want to see communication as entertainment by deeper integration with Facebook,” says Essl.

Being able to easily import your friends contact information into your phone is becoming a mobile game changer and Sony Ericcsson’s move to adopt Single Sign On for Android is subtle but bold, as Facebook nears 600 million users (1/10 of the world) the solution to this problem will be increasingly one sided.

Exclusive Interview: With the CTO of mFlow.com Thong Nguyen

Thong (Tum) Nguyen

Chief Technology Officer at Digital Distribution Networks (@mflow)

@tumtumtum

mFlow.com is in a nutshell:

Today we have an exclusive interview with one of the brain trust of the new site mFlow. If you have not heard of this UK based site then let me fill you in. The site lets you listen to music without paying monthly subscription fees and without advertisements. The hope is you find a song you like, then buy in DRM free format.

The Social aspect of the site and what is a site with out social now a days. The way this site uses social is pretty straight forward and has more pow than Ping. You can share what you are listening to via mflow, Facebook, twitter and buzz.

The reward for this sharing and recommending is in the form of credits; 20% to be exact.  That is how much the person that recommended music to you gets if you buy what was recommended.  So basically you're getting paid for your opinions.   If you are an artist you can also join the fun and have your music added to the flow so to speak by contacting Tony Byrne, Director of Music.

The Q & A

Can you give me a brief introduction – Name, Job Title, The time you’ve been with mflow?

My name is Thong (pronounced Tum) Nguyen.  I grew up in New Zealand and moved to London to help found mflow.  My job title is CTO and I’ve been with mflow since mid 2008.

What date did mFlow go beta?

We did an initial launch of our beta desktop application in April of 2010.  We decided to change direction and concentrate on social networking on the web.  We started development of the web product in August and launched the web beta at the start of December.

Where did the name mFlow (music flow come from?)

Was a name that popped into the head of one of the team.  In fact, the concept of flows came after the name!  The original idea we had been a P2P network where users earn credit for re-distributing music they legally own.

How long did it take to go from the original concept to going live?

About 14 months.  Naturally the ideas changed significantly over the course of this so  development changed in many directions.

What were some of the obstacles?

Music licensing was a huge obstacle as negotiations can take much, much longer than anyone would like.

Adjusting to the changing market we another difficulty.  When we started, music was not DRM free (being DRM free was one of our main USPs).  Streaming services were also very limited compared to what they are today so the competition was greater than we expected (though in hindsight it was obvious).

Was there anything that was easier than expected?

I think when you’re in a start-up, almost everything in harder than you expect!  Personally, I found pulling together a great development team in London in many ways easier than I had feared (even though it was obviously very tough work and required constant refining). My team is fantastic J

What partners are you working with in the music industry?

We obviously have licensing deals with most of the major labels as well as independent ones.  We’ve had partnerships with many others in the music industry including NME, Clash, Cut La Roc, Robbie Williams (ie music), Pop Justice and Radio One DJs like Zane Lowe.  The best partnerships tend to have been the partners that approach us and genuinely want to work with us to create a better product.

Are there any plans to launched stations specific tagets wheere the music would be curated by mFlow?

We have no shortage of ideas and this is one option we have considered.  We actually have some mflow specific users such as mflowalternative and mflowelectronica.

What sets your service apart from say Slaker, Pandora, Last.fm and the like?

I think many of the online music streaming services are lots in common.  We started by concentrating on the social aspect of music and are meeting in the middle by providing streaming as a “background” to the socializing and recommendation experience.

We also have an integrated music store where we provide the music directly (rather than as an affiliate to other stores like iTunes) which I think is unique amongst streaming services (it provides us with a source of revenue not available to other services).  We still believe there is a large market for ownership of digital music but understand the advantages streaming can have for many people.  We want to encourage music sales via one-click buys direct from a flow/recommendation.  Many people are willing to pay for music if it’s fairly priced and very easy to do so – many will buy in the first few minutes of streaming the music.

Another thing we have is our 20% recommendation credits.  We want people to treat these as a “thank you” to the user who recommended the music they’ve bought.  We hope this will encourage more music recommendations and more legal music sales.

I believe that online music services are developing and innovating at a great rate thanks to the competition of ideas that exists.  Technology is fundamentally here to solve human problems and make existing solutions more efficient.  The existence of services like Last.fm, Pandora, Spotify and mflow all contribute to create a better music industry that benefits artists and consumers alike.

What happened at 11:30AM EST. The system was giving an "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable."

We were performing an update to support commenting on flows and for some reason you got a 503 instead of this:

I think we’ve fixed that problem :)

Do you have any plans to make a mobile app?

Yes definitely.  Mobile is a very important platform. In fact, we already have a prototype Android application.  I think the first stage of a mobile release will probably be a customised version of the website for mobile devices.

What’s next for mFlow?

More features, a more engaging product.  For example, we would like to product functionality to allow independent artists to use mflow to sell and promote their music.  We believe it will allow lots of garage bands to quickly become popular by recruiting their friends as sales people (recommenders) on mflow.

We want to be the best place on the Internet for listening, sharing, selling, buying, talking about and promoting music.  Obviously we’re under no illusions of the size of that goal but that’s what drives us to doing better J.  The other thing we’re very aware of is that the industry changes so fast that we could be doing something completely different in 2 years!

We at Rubensaintel.com wanted to thank mFlow.com  and Mr. Thong Nguyen very much for you the interview.

I @Saintel would like to personally thank Mr. Thong Nguyen for taking the time to interview with us.

Lazy Teenage Superheroes: Movie made for only $300 but looks like it cost millions

[YouTube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN4JIz7uq40]

This short movie was created, directed, edited, and visual effects were all by Michael Ashton. This is the trailer for the short film I shot for $300. It's very impressive work. The quality is astounding given the budget they had to work with.

Lazy Teenage Superheroes follows Ty as he tries to get his new "super" friends, Mitch, Cal, and Rick, to put down the video games, get off the couch, and use their powers to help save the world, instead of themselves.
You can see the whole thing at LazyTeenageSuperheroes.com

Apple shows Verizon & AT&T some love

[YouTube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTnIO-QnKkE]

Verizon posted their first iPhone teaser commercial to their YouTube page. Called it “It begins.” Apple is ready to join in with its own marketing. But instead of mentioning Verizon iPhone as the better choice for making calls. They just hit the fact that it’s now on two networks. “Two is better than one.”

In this commercial there are two iPhone 4′s side-by-side. As Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz plays, the dueling iPhones perform the same tasks at the same time via a split screen. There was even a side-by-side FaceTime conversation. (via clear wi-fi I'm sure) Both AT&T and Verizon logos are used.

AT&T is still a vital partner for the device, Apple can’t afford to alienate them by putting out Verizon iPhone-only commercials.

Apple claims although the device are on different networks they are the same, you just have a choice now. That’s not true, the Verizon iPhone won’t be able to do talking & surfing at the same time. The Verizon version al so costs $50 more when purchased at the full retail price.

#askobama questions on Twitter or YouTube

President Obama will answer questions on YouTube on January 27, two days after giving his State of The Union Address.

The State of the Union also be live-streamed over YouTube. You can start submitting questions now but the deadline for asking questions is 12AM EST on January 25. Questions may also be submitted via Twitter, using the hashtag #askobama.

YouTube says video questions of about 20 seconds in length are preferred, with minimal background noise and camera shake. Creativity and interesting backdrops that help reinforce the messages behind the issues will help questioners stand out, YouTube says. The YouTube community can vote on which of the questions submitted by others should be selected.

YouTube not a new place for politics anymore. Loads of Republicans as well as Democrats have their very own YouTube channels. Over 150 government agencies have their own YouTube channel.

Bears lose, Packers win & Cutler Quits

A little disclosure, I didn't think the Bears had a chance to win. Even before the game started I had written them off. I said it would be Packers VS. Steelers in the Superbowl. My twitter feed @Saintel can back me up. I'd be wrong though. Bears came pretty close.

Nobody knows the human body like the person living in it. But that hasn't stopped everyone from having an opinion on whether Jay Cutler should have sat out or played the second half of the NFC championship game on Sunday.

With the Bears down 14-0, Cutler said he could not finish the game after injuring his knee. He said after the game that he was unable to plant and throw. It did not look like he was even trying to work on his knee. He was just sitting on a bench not talking to his teammates.

We found out the character the Bears Three quarterbacks yesterday. Todd Collins and Caleb Hanie. Todd tried but could not get it done. Hanie was very good for a guy that basically got thrown to the wolves.

ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer said "I don't question Cutler's toughness, he's one of the toughest guys on our football team." Well after seeing the greats like Joe Montana and Iron Man Brett Favre play though it all, pain and sickness. Cutler lost the respect of a lot of people.

Fitness guru Jack LaLanne dies

Fitness guru Jack LaLanne, who inspired television viewers to trim down and pump iron decades before exercise became a national obsession, has died at age 96.
LaLanne died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia Sunday afternoon at his home.

Lalanne ate healthy and exercised every day of his life up until the end, Hersh said.

"I have not only lost my husband and a great American icon, but the best friend and most loving partner anyone could ever hope for," Elaine LaLanne, Lalanne's wife of 51 years and a frequent partner in his television appearances, said in a written statement.

LaLanne credited a sudden interest in fitness with transforming his life as a teen, and he worked tirelessly over the next eight decades to transform others' lives, too.

Guys Let's Stop this

I love my Xbox 360 just as much as the next the next guy. Madden and Mass Effect have been known to suck the life out of me at times but you have to know when to say when. Telling your girl you don't feel like going out and want to relax. Then getting into a heated multiplayer call of duty binge all night is not cool. It’s ok to play video games once in a while, but if you find yourself calling off of work to play World of Warcraft or the new StarCraft or Madden 12.  It's time to think what is important to you.

  • Stop Playing house, it's old school

These days in many ways relationships have come a long way. The woman is no longer the only one that should be washing every dishes, doing all the laundry and cooking.  Stop expecting women to be superheroes and clean up after yourselves.  You share everything else with her, you should share this too.

  • Selective responses to communication

You know what I mean fellas. You see her text, bbm, aim or email. You read it, determined its not important at the moment to respond. She might not say anything at first or at all. So when she blows up just one time you are taken aback but it was a build up. Do yourself a favor just respond. Even as much as saying 'I'm busy right now, I will talk to you later' would work.

  • Sorry because she said so

If you are only sorry because she said you are not sorry then you really are in fact not sorry.  Let her know that you are not sorry because you don't understand what you did or thinks that you did. Communication is better than patronizing.

  • Telecast

Do your friends really need to know a play by of what you do with your girl? As a guy I do this all the time. I sometimes catch myself I sometimes don't. To be fair though on the real your friends don’t need to know how much of a freak your girl is.

  • Loving your Phone more than her

Repeat after me; "my cell phone is not a real person. It is not my child. It does not need my constant attention. I have a girlfriend."  You should not be having fights with your girlfriend over a phone. If it comes up then it means you are doing it too much.  Try turning it off or at least putting it on vibrate when you get home.  Check it once in a while if you can't do a whole night with it off. When out this is not an option, it needs to be off. No texting.

What do the numbers on your credit card mean?

Ever wanted to know what those numbers on your card mean? NO, well I did. So here it is. Try the math for extra credit.

Is Happiness a state of mind or what happens?

Don't you love open end questions that have so many answers to them? I think that happiness is a state of mind not what happens to you. There are some very happy poor people out there and there are some real sad rich people.

How to Help a friend with her relationship

  • The Issue

Do you find it that you are always the Oprah or Dr. Phil to your friends? I am starting to find it hard to say comforting things to a friend who is dealing with what  she describes  as a relationship but to everyone else seems to be anything but a relationship by any stretch of the word.  As a guy I know what her 'quote on quote' relationship is but do you say anything? Every week seems like a major catastrophic fail on communication between them.

  • The Advice

When it first happened, you really did care and were  supportive.  I mean, I can tell you as a guy it's not easy to find a platonic friend that your girlfriend does not feel threaten by.  So you try to decipher her words through the sobs and snotty sniffles.  The next few times. You try to contribute something you hope is more helpful. Maybe the voice of reason. Who better than a guy to give the male bash/play book point of view.  Hey snap out of it! You're just a booty call, trust me, he is not in to you like that. There will be no titles for you. Just speed dial under a code word.

  • The WTF moment

If that still does not work and your patience starts to wear thin. You find yourself fighting the urge scream ‘Are you stupid or something?’  Instead, you ask her "if he treats you so badly, why are you still with him?’ You tell her that even though you might love him, you fight all the time, you are always crying, or angry, or hurt. All this is not worth the drama.  With the overwhelming amount of evidence to support your theory you assume that they will get it through their head that maybe this guy is not right for them.

She agrees with you but the very next week, the tears and the drama start over again.  You remind her of everything she has complained about, everything you have heard from her own lips, you read back texts she has received, voice mails even the DNA from the other woman that some how ended up on his clothes. Ok, maybe that is a bit much but you get the idea. This is when you get reminded you are unable to help your friend because she has issues.  You up and just let her know how you really feel about her man.

  • The Red Flag

RED LIGHT with a cop behind you! Although she will forgive her man, she will not so easily forget those things you said to her about him. From this moment on your opinions, no matter how helpful are non and void.  Her first thought will be ‘you just don’t like him’ or ‘ you have it in for him’, and the stand by line, ‘he is not that bad just want to get at me’.

  • Verdict

Never hate on your platonic girlfriend’s man even if  she is.  In the end she just wants you to listen to her. She likes having a guy that she can talk to that is not trying to get in her pants. In all honesty she doesn't really care about your opinion one way or another. She just wants to get away from the drama her man brings but not feel the pitch fork her girlfriends are going to bring. You are her proof that a guy does exist. Just be supportive of her no matter what she decides to do about the "relationship"

ESCP Europe: Stop motion done right

This is just for fun. It is friday after all.

More than 300 students participated in this video meant to express the values of ESCP Europe, the oldest business school in the world. ESCP Europe is a top ranked international business school and one of the most prestigious French Management Grandes Ã‰coles. It is the oldest institution dedicated to business education in the world. It has campuses in Paris, London, Madrid, Berlin, and Turin.

It is considered one of the best business schools in France and Europe, noted for its European and international activities. In 2009, its core degree, the

HTC enters Tablet market

HTC plans to launch three tablet PCs in the first half of 2011 with the first model, the Flyer that will run on Android 2.3.  But users will be able to upgrade to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) when it's available. HTC will launch the Flyer on an un-named carrier. They plan to hit market before RIM's PlayBook in March and Motorola's Xoom in April.

HTC has focused on manufacturing smartphones in particular. It is currently the fourth biggest smartphone maker in the world. That is a big move for a company that has only been out since 1979. . Total 2010 revenues amounted to $9.57 billion.

Do Nothing For 2 Minutes? Why, not

PopJam CEO Alex Tew maker of Million Dollar Homepage has created Do Nothing For 2 Minutes, a site whose purpose is pretty self-explanatory. You have to sit there for 2 mins doing nothing. Can you sit in front of your computer and not touch your mouse or keyboard for a measly two minutes? It’s actually not as easy as it sounds, especially if you work in a web-intensive field.

One would think this would not take off but you would be wrong.  The site has had over 20,000 uniques in just 8 hours after launch. The Dev goes on to say:

“I had been thinking how we spend every waking minute of the day with access to an unlimited supply of information, to the point of information overload. i also read somewhere that there is evidence that our brains are being re-wired by the internet, because we get a little dopamine kick every time we check our e-mail or Twitter or Facebook and there’s a new update. So we’re all developing a bit of ADD. which is probably not great in terms of being productive.”

Knoxville, TN School requires Students to have iPad

Webb School in Knoxville, TN will require 4th  to 12th grade students next year to have an iPad for classes. Jim Manikais, technology director at the private school, said this new policy was designed to let students "use that technology whenever they need it."

How will parents pay for this? The school has a three-year rental plan for parents.  The plan will cost $200 per academic year or $20 per month for the school year.  School officials will block Facebook and Twitter on the school campus.  I wonder how long before someone discovers they can just use their own hotspot to get around that. Oops.. Did I give that away? My, bad.

WikiLeaks: The Movie

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is officially set to get the Social Network treatment.  According to Variety, the movie will be based on Andrew Fowler's forthcoming biography of Assange, The Most Dangerous Man in the World.

Michelle Krumm and Barry Josephson will produce the biopic. Mr. Josephson's production company also does the show 'Bones.'  I wonder who they will get to play Assange? Gawker thinks that  Leonardo DiCaprio the front-runner.

1st Verizon iPhone 4 ad

The 1st ad does not resemble anything Apple has done for their commercials. It is clear that Verizon plays on the anticipation for its version of Apple's smartphone. It is also clear that Verizon is the one doing its own ads.

Google Offers to Take on Groupon

Google offered Groupon $6 billion. They said no and later was evaluated at $15 Billion. Sounds like a smart move but Google may have the last laugh. Google Offers  is now offering local deals on restaurant deals, shopping deals and other local deals will be emailed to users each day. Users will also be able to tell nearby friends of  deals via Facebook, Twitter and Google Buzz.  Let's see if this will take a bite out of Groupon.

XBMC: Now on iPad

XBMC is now available as a jailbreak app for the iPad and iPhone 4. XBMC an open source media center application  that  runs on almost every OS. It is on Linux, OSX, Windows.

The iPad version also offers full hardware accelerated video playback and network access to media. The iPhone 4  is not ready for primetime yet. It seems a tad bit buggy to me.

The app is for jailbroken devices only.  It will not be in the App Store, you have to go to Cydia.

World of StarCraft: Lives on

Blizzard has released a statement regarding the mod by Ryan Winzen that turned the RTS title into a game.  "As always, we actively encourage development of custom maps and mods," Blizzard says in the statement, and it is "looking forward to seeing the continued development of this mod."

The  has "extended an offer to the developer to visit the Blizzard campus and meet with the StarCraft 2 development team."

The Full Statement:

"Earlier this week, a player-made StarCraft II mod called World of StarCraft and described as a StarCraft MMO was featured on a number of prominent gaming news sites, catching the attention of gamers as well as our own. With the name so closely resembling that of World of Warcraft, we wanted to discuss the title of the mod with the developer, and as part of our routine procedure, we contacted YouTube to request the video be removed while that discussion took place. We were also curious about the project and wanted to discuss with the developer what the mod entailed.

"It was never our intention to stop development on the mod or discourage the community from expressing their creativity through the StarCraft II editor. As always, we actively encourage development of custom maps and mods for StarCraft II, as we've done with our strategy games in the past. That's why we release an editor with our RTS games, and why we feature top player-created content in the custom game search. It's also why we held a contest to spotlight the best community-crafted StarCraft II mods at last year's BlizzCon, and why we'll continue to improve Battle.net to better showcase player-created content.

"Like many players in the community, we're looking forward to seeing the continued development of this mod, and as part of our ongoing discussion, we've extended an offer to the developer to visit the Blizzard campus and meet with the StarCraft II development team. As always, we appreciate all of the efforts of the talented and enthusiastic mod-making community, and we look forward to seeing and playing what they create using the StarCraft II editor in the future."

Super powers Will Smith and Jay-Z are in talks to bring a new version of the classic 1982 movie/musical Annie to the big screen. Will Smith is hoping to recreate the success of his remake of The Karate Kid, which also starred his son Jaden Smith and has grossed over $350 million worldwide.

SkyFire for iPad Makes $1 Mill

I wrote a post about Skyfire for iPad a few weeks back? I said try it, love it, buy it! Well a lot of people must have  felt that way. The browser lets you play Flash videos through remote proxy servers that transcode Flash content to iOS-optimized video. The iPhone app  made a million dollars in just three days in the App Store. Skyfire for the iPad came out for the price of  $4.99.  Just like that Skyfire for iPad has made another $1 million.  If you have not picked it up yet than you should.

Google gets new CEO

Google announced that co-founder Larry Page will take over the CEO role effective, April 4th, from Eric Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt will remain with the company and assume the role of Executive Chairman, “focusing externally on deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership.”

“We’ve been talking about how best to simplify our management structure and speed up decision making for a long time,” said Schmidt. “By clarifying our individual roles we’ll create clearer responsibility and accountability at the top of the company. In my clear opinion, Larry is ready to lead and I’m excited about working with both him and Sergey for a long time to come.” Sergey Brin, also a Google co-founder, will focus on new, strategic projects for the company.

Shazam: Now works with your TV

Shazam‘s next growth target is TV. They have now have a partnership with Syfy's new show Being Human.

The way it will work is; The Shazam logo will be ‘embedded’ into the program ready for users to tag the show. This entails them holding their phone up so that it can listen to and recognise the episode in question from which Shazam will give links to exclusive video and previews of upcoming episodes, access to playlists from the series, downloads and competitions. One way to think of the technology is as an audio barcode, which instead of relating to a particular song, points to a TV episode.

Last year Shazam was used on the  season finales of Warehouse 13 and Eureka. Shazam is  also using the tech with other partners such as HBO, Levi’s Dockers, Lynx and well...Syfy.

My question is hey GetGlue, Why are you not doing this. It seems it would be a great feature to turn the company from fun to profit machine via raw data for the networks. Just a thought.

Amazon buys LoveFilm: Netflix of UK

Amazon acquires the European movie rental and streaming movie service LoveFilm. Think Netflix but for the UK. How much will this cost Amazon? Well the valuation for Lovefilm.com was around $312 million. Amazon already owned 42%of LoveFilm. The talks have been going on since last year. The deal should close in the first quarter of 2011.

Cydia now Shows Purchased Jailbreak Apps

The Manage Account shows the list of jailbreak apps that have been purchased from the Cydia App Store. The Manage Account feature will be useful for users after they have upgraded to a new  device.  I  don't like having to give away my log in to two very sensitive sites. You have a choice of Google's Gmail or Facebook. Both of which I do not want to share with anyone.  For now I will not be using this feature.

I for one loved Rock, the competitor that Cydia brought for one reason. It allowed you to back up all your packages and sources.  Just log in to a new device install Rock, login  with an email address, any email address and restore your packages.  Good to see Cydia getting there.

The Cape gets Casts Lil' Romeo

Lil Romeo who is not so little any more. The son of No Limit Records Master P, has been cast on NBC's new super-hero drama "The Cape" which premiered this month. Romeo will play "Lil Z," a wise cracking side-kick to Michael Irby's character "Pokerface," who was also just added to the show.  They both play underlings to the main nemesis on the show "Chess," played by James Frain.

The Cape centers around  an ex-cop (David Lyons), accused of murder and left for dead and is out to clear his name and clean up the streets of Palm City. He takes on  the identity of his son's favorite comic book hero to fight the supervillian Chess. The Cape airs Monday nights at 9:00 PM on NBC. You should give it a try. It has great stories and decent acting so it won't last long. Enjoy it while its on.

Confirmed: Playboy app not uncensored

As I stated this morning. The Playboy app will not be uncensored. In fact there is not even a Playboy app at all. It's a website just like I said it would be. Foxnews.com broke the story.

Playboy spokesman Theresa Hennessey clarified Hefner's statement, telling FoxNews.com that the comely centerfolds and sensual snaps from the magazine won't be available in an iPad app after all.

"We are releasing a web-based subscription service with Bondi Digital Publishing that will give users access to every issue of Playboy both past and present. The service will be iPad-compatible and will utilize iPad functions," Hennessey said

Are You The Other Woman?

The other woman might not know she is in fact the other woman. She might think that she has a man who is committed only to her or that he is single.  How do you know if you are the other woman. Well here are some signs to look for. This is what a guy hopes you do not see. Now if you know you are the other woman and continue that is on you.

[I] Mi Casa not Tu Casa

You have been dating for well over a month and you don't know the color of my bathroom. 80% of the time that means the guy is cheating and you're the one he is cheating with.

[II] An Army of One

We having been dating or just hanging out for a while now. You know of my friends but have never met any of them.  Not knowing the people in my life is normal for few weeks but not knowing after a few months is suspect.

[III] Booty Call Hours

What is that you may ask. If you are only seeing him after 10pm on any given day even days he is off. Than you  are the other woman. No keep in mind that only works if you are dating. If you are just Friends with benefits  you have no claim what so ever.   You knew what you signed up for.

[IV] No posting on my Wall

I don't have a Facebook page you can get to. My security settings won't let me add anyone. Lie. He set them he knows how to change them to let you in. Ok, you managed to let him add you. Now he tells you don't post on his wall or he blocks you from seeing his wall all together. WTF? If you are alright with that you are not only the other woman but should really consider some self-help books.

[V] It's the Batphone

Evey time I get a call I leave the room but only if it is a female. This female also happens to be a friend at work. Red flag women.

[VI] Text be gone

I just got a text. As soon as I am done reading and replying to it, Poof it's deleted. Same goes for call logs.

What is your biggest phobia?

There are a lot of things that make us fearful. Some are better at hiding it. Are you scared of being a bad parent, that girl in the cubical 3 rows down or your blog not getting read.  You can get past these things but not a phobia.

A phobia: The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared stimulus.

My Phobia is that I hate being underground, my brain races and I am very fearful that I will get trapped. Yes, its unlikely but hey that is what makes a phobia. I hate The metro, subway and Marta

No Playboy app will not be uncensored.

According to Hugh Hefner’s Twitter account, Playboy magazine will be coming to Apple’s iPad, beginning in March, uncensored.  Since the launch of the iPhone, Apple has been fairly strict in keeping adult material off of its digital content store. This is not going to change.

Here is what I believed Hugh meant. You will have the Playboy app that will have articles and pictures. Those pictures will be of women that are dressed in as little as possible but none the less dress. There maybe however links within the articles are the pictures themselves may be links to open  safari to a Playboy website where you would get the full bag of goodies. There is no way Apple is going to allow nudity on its closed OS. That would open the flood gates for all kinds of smut apps. Not going to a happen.

Nintendo 3DS: Same Price as a home system

The 3DS portable gaming  system will be launching on March 27th. It has the same  form-factor as the DSi and will be backwards compatible with both DS and DSi games. There will be 30 3DS  titles will be available at  launch. The 3DS will be in  “aqua blue” or “cosmo black”.

Now the bad news; the price will be priced at $249.99. Just  a few bucks short of a Xbox 360 or Wii. At this price Sony might be able to take some market share if it prices the soon to be revealed PSP 2 under $200

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Now most people confuse pet peeves for things they just don't like. Pet Peeves irk you to no end. I have a few of them.

  1. People that start saying something and then stop. WTF, what were you going to say?

  2. People that don't know their facts but act as if. If you are talking about something  know what you are talking about because someone does and they will know your are full of sh.. sh.. suspect half facts.

  3. People that switch the radio station between every song only to come back to the first long.

  4. People that auto follow you on twitter in hopes you will follow them too. Then they stop following.

  5. People that lie. Not the lies that sometimes you have to do. You know little white lies. I mean blatant lies where there is no need. Lie just to lie.

Apple Will be fine without Jobs for the Short Term

Mr. Jobs is not as young as he use to be.  The CEO  will once again take a leave of absence due to medical reasons. In an SEC filing out today, Apple submitted the same media statement it released yesterday, but it also re-emphasized Jobs’ continuing role.

Apple highlighted: “As CEO, Mr. Jobs will stay involved in major strategic decisions during this leave of absence.” This gives a strong sign that Jobs will still be calling the shots on things like the long-term direction of the company and major product releases to the best of his ability.

Here is the relevant portion of the filing:
On January 17, 2011, Apple Inc. (“Apple”) issued a media advisory announcing Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs’s medical leave of absence. As CEO, Mr. Jobs will remain involved in major strategic decisions during this leave of absence, and Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook will be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations.

The stock hit $350 in after hours trading, highest ever. The company will be fine for now. It's the long-term that Apple will have an issue with if Jobs does not come back.

Palm joins the tablet party

As expected Palm joins the tablet party. Endgadget must be really hated right now by HP. They just ruined HP's February 9th event. They have posted internal webOS tablet pictures and information.

The Palm Tablet looks just like a  iPad.  There’s speakers, front facing camera, and a micro-USB port and Palm OS. It will be WiFi-only as well as models for AT&T 3G, and Verizon LTE versions of the Opal arriving in September 2011, and on AT&T LTE in July 2012. I am sure more will come out on this through out the day. We will keep you posted.

OneNote Comes To The iPhone

Microsoft has released a new version of its note-taking application OneNote that’s specifically meant for iPhone users. The app is available for free for now  in the App Store.  As if there were not enough note taking apps in there already. What we really want is the Microsoft Office iPad.
